Keeping unwanted plugins on your WordPress websites will add a tremendous amount of junk to your web files. Moreover, it will also increase the size of your backup and put an overwhelming amount of load on your server resources while backup files are being generated. It is better to get rid of the plugins that you don’t use.

As a second step, go through the plugins you actually use and see if there are ways to do what the plugin does but without having the plugin. For example, you may use a plugin to add AdSense ads to your web pages but with a few lines of code into your functions.php, you can have the same outcome without having to load the extra coding and logic added by a plugin.

Remove Unused Media

You can use a plugin like Media Cleaner to dispose of unused media or you can do so manually. To manually remove unused media, simply go to Dashboard > Media > Library and delete it.
